Giving extends beyond finances; it's a lifestyle. By offering tithes, helping those in need, and sharing time, love, and resources, we sow seeds that God nurtures into a fruitful harvest.
Imagine fleeing danger with only the clothes on your back. In a foreign land with a different language and unfamiliar customs, would you still celebrate your birthday? Many refugees find ways to celebrate despite facing such challenges.
When celebrating birthdays, we reflect on gratitude and dreams. Refugees also have their own reasons to be thankful, such as the freedom to travel, joy with friends, warm sunshine, work opportunities, and hope for a brighter future. They experience this support through the Light of the World community, aided by the Hands of Compassion Project.

Our Mission:
The "Hands of Compassion Project" (HCP) aims to offer spiritual, emotional, social, and economic support to vulnerable refugees in our community, helping them create new lives in Cape Town.
Our HCP collaborates with both our refugee brothers within the church and those outside our congregation to assist them in: Adjusting to a new country, community, language, and culture Integrating into the community and achieving self-sufficiency.

Our programs encompass:
Skills training, English lessons, and job placement
Community liaison services
A community garden for growing familiar vegetables and herbs
These initiatives enhance physical, mental, economic, social, and community health. In response to rising xenophobic attacks and unemployment affecting refugees in South Africa in 2015, HCP now emphasizes self-sustainability, capacity building, and entrepreneurship programs for refugees.
