Light of the World Christian Ministries was founded in November 1999 by Pastor Jacob Israel Katumbayi and his wife, Dorcas, in Southern Africa. The ministry's origins date back to 1993 when Pastor Katumbayi received a vision directing him from the Democratic Republic of Congo to South Africa. After relocating to Johannesburg in 1996, he preached for two years before being called to establish a church in Cape Town. The inaugural service on November 14, 1999, began with nine members in a classroom and quickly grew, leading to several relocations to accommodate the expanding congregation.

An anointed, dynamic and charismatic preacher and teacher who presents the Word of God accurately with complete clarity and simplicity, bringing understanding to every heart and mind while simultaneously captivating the audience with his bold, dynamic style. He is a much sought-after speaker for churches and conferences throughout the world.
Jacob Israel gave his life to the Lord at the age of 10 and started serving God as a minister of the gospel at a young age; through his apostolic anointing, he has been since 1988 responsible for the formation of many churches throughout Africa and various parts of the world.
Jacob Israel Katumbayi is also the founder and President of JIK Advanced Leadership Academy, an academy that focuses on training pastors, company executives, and all those who function in a leadership position. Up to date, the Academy has trained over 5000 students for successful leadership and ministry.
Pastor Jacob Israel and his wife Dorcas birthed Light of the World Christian Ministries; the congregation has experienced many deliverances, signs, and wonders through the couple’s ministry.
Pastor Jacob Israel believes deeply in spending much time in prayer and God’s Word. The most important thing in his life is to know and do the will of God in all his decisions.

Together with her husband Jacob Israel, Pastor Dorcas co-founded Light of the World Ministries in November 1999. She has worked tirelessly alongside Pastor Jacob Israel in building this dynamic ministry.
As an anointed preacher and exhorter, Pastor Dorcas shares God's word with a practical, down-to-earth approach sharing from her heart. Her desire is to see women set free, empowered to be builders of their home and society, and fulfill their mission in life. She loves to pray for the sick and the oppressed and see signs and miracles following. She is filled with love and compassion and arms filled with gifts for the needy.
Pastors Jacob Israel and Dorcas Katumbayi are blessed with four children (three sons and one daughter Isaac, Doris, Noella, and Jesse)
